EdgeAI-Trust

Decentralized Edge Intelligence: Advancing Trust, Safety, and Sustainability In Europe

https://www.edgeai-trust.eu/

EdgeAI-Trust aims to build a trustworthy edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem by developing a comprehensive architecture, tools, and techniques for real-time collaboration among diverse edge devices. The initiative focuses on ensuring trust in AI applications with a primary goal of creating a flexible framework that allows seamless collaboration among devices in a dynamic, zero-trust environment, while fostering societal acceptance of AI. Through community engagement, standardization efforts, and roadmap development, EdgeAI-Trust aspires to strengthen the European edge AI ecosystem, enhancing Europe’s global competitiveness.
This initiative will create a reliable edge AI ecosystem that includes AI architecture, components, orchestration techniques, development tools, and a community for the real-time collaboration of heterogeneous edge devices. It aims to maintain the highest levels of security, scalability, sustainability, and robustness.

The key achievement for Neotera is to develop and integrate high-end, low-power multifunctional IoT end devices, mainly utilizing STM32 devices and components. These devices shall provide both field alongside winery/cellar monitoring assisted by AI algorithms and components. Moreover, Neotera shall develop a new AI-based monitoring and alerting cloud infrastructure that will, among others, help in providing feedback in the research field, prognosis (e.g., a disease is likely to occur) and diagnosis (e.g., a disease or pathogen has occurred).

UP2DATE4SDV

Enabling safe & secure modular UPdates, UPgrades and DynAmic Task reallocation and Execution for Software-Defined Vehicles

https://up2date4sdv.eu/

The UP2DATE4SDV project is a Horizon Europe research initiative aiming to create a comprehensive ecosystem for software-defined vehicles that can be continuously updated, upgraded, and dynamically reconfigured. It develops a modular architecture based on key abstraction layers (hardware, software, and orchestration) to enable seamless over-the-air updates, hardware evolution, and cloud–vehicle task distribution while ensuring high levels of safety, cybersecurity, and reliability. By supporting flexible, cloud-connected vehicle systems and standardized development frameworks, the project seeks to extend vehicle lifecycles, reduce electronic waste, and accelerate the deployment of advanced automated driving technologies.

Neotera acts as an SME technology provider contributing key software components and integration capabilities to the project, particularly in the development of the orchestration and reconfiguration framework. It is responsible for implementing parts of the cloud- and system-side update management (notably the orchestration and reconfiguration plane), while also supporting hardware–software integration and optimization on embedded platforms. Additionally, Neotera contributes its ContinuumX technology and participates in demonstrators and use-case validation, helping enable dynamic, safe, and secure software updates and reconfiguration across the vehicle–cloud continuum.

SHASAI

Secure Hardware and Software for AI systems

https://shasai.eu/

The SHASAI (Secure Hardware and Software for AI Systems) project is a Horizon Europe initiative focused on ensuring the security, resilience, and trustworthiness of AI-based systems across their entire lifecycle. It develops advanced methods, tools, and frameworks to protect both hardware and software components of AI systems against cyber threats, including tampering, data breaches, and adversarial attacks. By integrating cybersecurity, explainability, and compliance with emerging regulations such as the EU AI Act and NIS2, SHASAI aims to enable the safe deployment of high-risk AI applications in sectors like healthcare, industry, and mobility, ultimately fostering trustworthy and secure AI adoption across Europe.

Neotera participates in the SHASAI project as an SME and Use Case provider, contributing its expertise in embedded systems, edge AI, IoT, and cybersecurity to the development and validation of secure AI solutions. In particular, Neotera leads the agrifood industry use case, where it applies AI-driven predictive maintenance on industrial cutting machines, integrating hardware and software components with SHASAI’s security framework. Through this role, Neotera supports the practical validation of the project’s technologies, ensuring that secure, trustworthy AI solutions can be effectively deployed in real-world industrial environments.
